Carrollton, Texas was first settled in 1842, and is most likely named for Carrollton, Illinois, where many of the original settlers had first lived.  Carrollton was officially incorporated in 1913 and Carrollton real estate experienced tremendous growth in the post World War II era.  The population of Carrollton grew from 1,600 in 1950 to 14,000 in 1970 to its approximate 130,000 residents today.

Carrollton real estate prices generally start in the $50,000 range for some small, older condominiums and townhomes to the $600,000.00 range in the Gates of Prestonwood subdivision.  The median price of a home in Carrollton is $155,500.00.  Carrollton real estate is extremely easy to access with Interstate 35E on it’s western edge, the North Dallas Tollway on it’s eastern edge, Beltline Road as it’s southern boundary and the recently completed George Bush Turnpike cutting through it’s northern sector.  And with the new DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) Green Line set to be open in December 2010, Carrollton and other North Texas residents will have an easy commute to Downtown Dallas and beyond.
